I am new to the area and would like to find a good mechanic at a dealer or independent shop. I have an Audi Allroad. Thanks for any help!

I moved away a year ago, but I always went to see Lubo at La Jolla Autotech Porsche and Audi. I was always very please with his work. It's on Miramar Rd.

Default Lubo Rocks

Lubo is a great guy, and his work is excellent and a fair price.

Default San Diego Mechanic?

Depending on where you live here in SD, you might also check out Griffin's Auto Repair in Little Italy on State Street. They're very good and straight shooetrs. They specialize in VW, Audi and BMW. Talk to Marshall-619-234-7991.

Default Re: San Diego Mechanic?

Great info! Just moved to San Diego. Drove my A6 Avant across the country and the passenger side valve cover area started to leak while I was in Kansas City. Made it here with additional 1 liter of oil, now need to get it fixed.

Any reputable shops near mission valley?

Thanks!

I took my Allroad in yesterday to see Lubo. What a nice man! He even gave me a ride to work and picked me up again. He gave me an estimate and I am going back on the 7th. He will be my car's new doctor!

Glad to hear you had a good experience. I'll be back there once the warranty on my new Audi runs out...

Default Lubo is great!

Went there last week to get the oil leak first. Lubo is a great man to work with. He drove me to my work place and picked me up in his A6. Did the diagnosis, made the appointment and went in four days later (another drop-off and pick up by Lubo).

Turns out that the upper oil pan seal is leaking. A painful sum of money later, our big girl finally stopped leaking.

Lubo is very knowledgeable about all sorts of Audis.

Default Second visit to La Jolla Porsche Audi

Well, after a 5-hour non-stop Vegas run in 40C+ degree weather, my car is leaking again. Went in for the second time. Lubo cleaned the lower engine and drove it around and identified the leak is still from the upper oil pan. Since his work carries a 12 months / 12k miles warranty (pretty long in my book), he'll fix it at no charge.

Apparently the upper oil pan job is not easy to get it right and Audi should have used a gasket instead of silicon sealant. Don't know what the engineers were thinking.

Anyway I think Lubo is indeed a honest guy. You can get easily get screwed by a mechanic for this sort of oil leak problems. One can easily bull**** you with another reason (say rear main seal, cam adjuster seal, valve cover gaskets, cam seals) and avoid warranty work. In fact in a 85k engine you will always find places leaking oil. Luckily they are straight-shooters.

I hope this time they do it slowly and get it done properly.
