Default anyone ever deal with a melted primary o2 sensor wire on the harness side.?..

so my primary bank 2 keeps throwing intermittent codes no matter which of the 3 sensors i put in....

Q is, i dont really want to splice in a section, has anyone ordered the pins to do it oem? if so any feedback?

i dont think the wires can be soldered for a splice because of the type of material the wire core is made out of...

i know the sensor is very very sensitive to connections/splices being 0.80v range etc

apparently my wire hit the manifold and is stiff in one section, any other ideas from people dealing with constant intermittent codes on one bank?

feed back would be great thanks guys

I would have to see it, I didn't think there was anything special about the wiring in the harness besides being a high temp insulation. Most of the harness I've delt with soldered just fine. Have you thought about tinning (small) sections of the wire and then using low temp solder butt connector.

i did try to crimp one section of the wire with butt connectors, however same codes still.... i figured the voltage drop was affecting it maybe..

so you soldered one in fine huh hmm? i tried to solder a o2 sensor wire i had spliced for a universal sensor and it gave me hell "i have plenty of previous soldering experience btw lol"

shrugz.... i did buy a section of cut harness from the junk yard, was wondering if maybe i could put fresh pins in it possibly and tap it in the ecu plug/harness

maybe i need to invest in a adjustable temp iron and low temp solder?

I haven't on O2 sensors. (EGT sensor issue) A good solder connection should have virtually no resistance add or voltage drop.

Did you use lots of flux, tinning, and then full soldering? Low temp is good for the electrical connection since it has more lead. Maybe use some high temp silver solder?

yeah i basically used a one temp solder iron "cheapie" and some old radio shack solder, maybe that was the deal,

i guess i can acquire a low temp iron and retry

no flux was used...

Ahh. just retry. Tin the leads first with lots of additional flux.

Default nope

O2 sensor wires are shielded, (meaning they have additional grounds in between the primary and secondary insulation layers), and cannot be repaired.

Could anyone please tell the pinout? Mine melted completely, so I cut the connector out. I have 5 wires that need to go into my new 4 pin connector. Thank you!
