abs light on, no abs codes when scanned

abs light on, no abs codes when scanned
My abs light came on a few weeks back, and I need help fixing the situation.
Scanned multiple times, and the only code I get is an intermittent O2 sensor code.
When I go to scan the airbags, a warning pops up on VAGCOM that says certain airbag control models can be ruined just by scanning them. Since my car falls into the years that this could happen, I haven't scanned them.
I heard plugs can go bad, but when I poked my head under my seats, there are what looks like a half dozen plugs. No idea which one I should look at.
When it comes to engine/mechanical stuff, I'm completely competent. When it comes to electrons, I'm not.
Any help/ideas would be great.
