Chicktronic Transmission Health?
I change the fluid and filter every year or 10k. Changed it yesterday and the once yellow fluid was black. Does this suggest the seals are disintegrating? Would a transmission shop re-seal job be worthwhile preventive maintenance? It shifts smoothly and we don't beat on it. Probably has 170k on it.
I plan to shorten the fluid change intervals to 3000 miles or quarterly (same as synthetic engine oil changes.) With the engine I am also using oversized filters which increase oil capacity.
Any thoughts or comments other than an attack on tips generally would be appreciated.
Just sent samples of engine and trans fluids to the lab in Indiana - their reports will tell what kind of wear is occuring and what failures are down the road.

So you haven't had to do any other repairs on the transmission other than replacing the fluid and filter for the past 170k miles? I'm asking because I'm in the market for a S4 tip and would like to get a feel for what kind of mileage is possible on the stock tip.
