tt engine layout
I need a layout of the 2002 TT 1.8 engine that shows and describes where every thing is and what it is. For instance, on the passenger side under the engine there is a black plastic cannister that looks to be motor driven ??? what is it, my sisters seeems to be losing its rivets that hold it together ????
I dont have oneof those high dollar shop manuals and she wont spring for it hehe.

Thats the SAI pump
Secondary air injection. It pumps air to the catalytic converter to light them off after a cold start. The rivets are a weak point. I ( and many others) replaced mine with machine screws. If it gets too bad and the pump does not pump sufficient air the car will display a diagnostic code of insufficient air flow when scanned. The pumps often get noisy when the rivets get bad. Do you hear a squeal start a few seconds after a cold start and run for a minute or so?
It is not a bad job to drill out and replace the rivets. Do it soon. Replacing the pump is expensive.
