Can I upgrade to 2006 XM factory radio option?

I have 2001 q225 with Bose radio. Instead of getting separate unit, I'd love to put the radio and receiver that came as an option. Can this be done?

In 2002 they installed CAN-bus in the TT. The new radios need CAN-bus to function.

If you install a newer stereo in an older non CAN-bus TT the illumination won't work and once per hour the radio will switch itself off and you will need to manually turn it back on.

You can buy CAN-bus adapters but that doesn't help because the software to control those functions is just not present in the car.
