Default Audi Pure Platinum Protection not so Pure

1. Airbags not covered. It is stated pretty plainly. It sucks when they know there is a problem (connectors corrode and build up resistance), but don't offer a recall (campaign in Audispeak).
2. Even though the literature states control arms and bushing are covered, they are really only covered up to 50k miles. Control arm bushings are considered a wear item like tires, brakes and clutches.
Even my dealer was disgusted. Audi offered to pick up the cost of the parts if I paid for labor ($550). The dealer manager offered to pick up a large chunk of the labor, so that helps. It makes me mad that I've complained about the suspension squeak for years, but they could never duplicate or see anything wrong. Now it squeaks constantly and they see the problem.
I expect to see some bushing wear on my A4 with 122k on it, but not on 60k car.

It sounds like they didn't play the "game" correctly.

My non-Audi platinum warranty covered repairs on the (very) well known creaking noise from the front suspension. It's a well documented issue in this forum, and others. It is caused by the control arm bushings.

The warranty doesn't cover "wear items" which are usually anything rubber, like bushings, and of course brakes, bulbs, etc. However, the warranty did cover the piece(s) that the contained the rubber bushings that were causing the problem. I want to say they were control arms, but I'm not 100% on that.

I had a similar experience with the sway bar bushings. They are not covered (rubber), but the sway bar assembly that contains the bushings is covered.

Don't quote me on the exact component names. Just understand that a good SA knows how to play the game. Unfortunately, once you've showed your cards, as it were, you can't go back and claim a different/related component is now the problem. Such as, the SA calls the warranty company and reports some bushing needs to be replaced then the warranty company says, no. The SA isn't going to be able to call back and say, "...well it was actually the control arm, not the bushing..." because the jig is already up at that point.

Unfortunately, you're probably hosed...

Bushings are cheap by all means. Money and quality vice. They are same as A4's but have to accommodate way longer suspension travel on heavier car. If "large chunk" is like half - go for it. They would probably replace whole arms, but if Audi is paying who cares.
