Default Mo' better....a little cosmetic mod.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

The original POS license filler was not painted well at all...too dark, tons of road sandblasting, and the original license numbers could actually be seen on it (burned in?), not too mention unneeded in Georgia.

The new license delete filler insert was painted beautifully by Performance Auto Collision in Alpharetta, GA....perfect match and finish, and quick turnaround. This is a very high-end shop with a parking lot chock full (sadly) with an R8, Panamera, etc, etc. $115.20+ship from Genuine Audi Parts and $77 for the painting.

How hard/easy was it to replace the insert?

Took all of 2 minutes. There are 8 tabs on the filler and I think 6 on the license one (the bottom 2 middle are not there). I used the new filler as a reference for tab location to find the license ones.

I used a small flat head screw driver in those locations and just pryed a bit taking care not to flex any paint. It popped right out. Once a couple of tabs are out on one side, it's easier to pull the plate back a bit to find the other tabs.

The new one just snaps in with a little solid pressure from your fist over each tab.

It is a little bit more difficult going opposite way. You do not have plate holder to pull.

That definitely looks better by magnitudes! I'm always envious of the states/provinces that don't require front license plates.

What was the part # on the bumper filler without the license plate holder? Someone backed into my A8 and I am going to get the one w/out the plate.
Thanks
