Default Knee Airbag

I've had this code thrown for about a month now. I posted it in the VAG-COM section and they told me this is a dealer concern. Reading through some of the posts here about airbag fixes I'm tempted to try the cleaning of the connectors trick to clear this code. What do you think? I've never done it before but technically inclined. Just don't want it going off if I complete a circuit. All help is appreciated thanks.

[QUOTE=A8nightmare;24181115]Clean them off and reconnect. I have had two with the exact same code, but rear bags with the same high limit code etc... The pin connectors are very small and tend to get loose, dirty, moisture etcc...... The connector is a small two pin connector with maybe 18-20gauge wires going to it. I have just wiped the male pins down with a contact cleaner and then wiped with WD-40. You will not set the airbags off by doing this. One of the master techs recommended a better contact spray. You can go to radio shack or an electrical supply house to get a better moisture/contact spray.

I think it is the same problem. Few drops of DeoxIT will cure it.

You'll need to remove the lower trim panel (which the airbag is part of) to get to the connector.

Search "air compressor relay" topics on how to get the panel off as its not obvious how to do it. Or refer to a workshop manual like Alldata, Elsawin or Bentley. A purchase or subscription to the first two is well worth it as they're not expensive.

FWIW, I think you guys are all barking up the wrong airbag here. For the poster asking question early today, do a search and make sure you know where airbag N250 is. This is not it AFAIK.

Expect to invest some time, and I can preview you are going to get into some multiple step disassembly involving some fragile parts. You need Bentley or one of the on line or other manuals. Given that, probably want to be sure you are up to speed on safety instructions on working on them, like disconnecting battery.

You will actually be putting this piece aside relatively early BTW so know how to deal with it as well.

Hello,

Do you think N250 airbag is the right place to check for this error code?

Hi TSHONG,

Based on what I read on this thread it seems like i should try cleaning the igniter connector. But the issue is I dont know where is it located. Any help locating the igniter connector (probably a picture) would really be appreciated.
