CHECK ENGINE HELP.
i got a cel the other day turns it to be code 16839... something with the gas line leaking. I had the light reset and it turned on again ... is this something serious the guy told me to sell my car its not worth it since im out of my warranty or he told me to try to buy extended warranty. Anyone ever have this problem know how much it cost to fix?

The advise you got is like telling you to cut off your arm because you have an infection on a fingernail. Sheeshhh....
Have the car diagnosed with a VAGCOM tool, not a regular OBDII tool. You will get more information on what the issue is.

Step one is to kick that dude to the curb, step two is to find someone that knows what they're talking about AND owns a VAG-COM to do the proper diagnosis.

check that out. it most likely will be a EVAP System Leaking (i think its the Purge Valve) i had it replaced in my 4.2 A6 same engine.
about $20 for the part... if you can locate it its easy to replace. or even try to tighten the hoses etc..
