1994 audi cabriolet AC HELP!
It then goes up to 3/4" temp on the gage, and ac pump shuts off...fan blows, but I get out and look and compressor is off??
I had the ac serviced just recently, as they evac and refilled the system.......
I thought maybe that it was air in the coolant, so I drained, put it under vacuum, and filled it........
any ideas?
Please help! Thanks!
You put the coolant system under a vacuum ?
Then you filled the coolant system as it was under vacuum?
What happened then?
Did you bleed the system properly the first time when you changed the belt and water pump? Obviously not as your car spiked to 3/4 on the gauge.
How long after you did the belt change did the car spike to 3/4?
You have to give us info if we are to diagnose over the internet.
More info please?

the first time I didnt put the coolant under vacuum.
I fixed the temp and fuel gage by cleaning contacts, and they work now. Before I had no temp to gage it off of.....its 113 here during day and it runs at 3/4 hot. at night it only runs halfway at 90degs
Today I figured it had air in the system. So I got a mac tools evac vacuum tool. drained it, put it under vacuum (hoses collapsed) and was able to pull to 15inches of vacuum.
It took about a gallon of fluid, seemed better drove it, and about 3/4 the ac pump stops running still??
I checked the temp at the upper rad hose, and lower and they are at 195 degs.
I check compressor temp, its the same. The top of the dryer is 160degs....should it be that hot?
Maybe they didnt add enough freon??
As soon as I replaced the fan the A/C was back to normal. I wasn't seeing any higher temps on the gage though.
