full tank of gas to do the mmi update?
I would just connect a good battery charger - at least 10amp and make sure you connect it to the correct battery charge pillar and not directly to the battery itself.
Also, on the last update don't forget to insert discs #1 and #2 into the changer. When doing the update didn't insert disc #2 and after the update my BT wasn't working.
These buggy BT modules were likely installed in 2006 - early 2007 vehicles (I'm not sure on the exact part #, but will let everyone know when I pull mine out). The first disc of the 46.10 MMI upgrade checks the s/w version of the phone, and Audi recommends replacement if the HW-index is "H00". Here is the Audi Technical Service Bulletin: RVU - Repairing telephone preparation : TSB# 2018510/3.
I believe many owners never experienced this BT failure since they have a newer, or older version of the BT phone module.
