Keyless Entry Problem
My keyless engine start will not work every time I try to start the vehicle. THe doors unlock/lock every time when I touch the handles. The engine start is very strange though. I replaced the brake light switch with no luck. Key battery has been replaced with new battery. The engine starts fine every time I use the key in the ignition directly. The cluster lights up also every time I use the keyless start feature. Anyone else have this problem?

Hey Sunil, good to see you around here again. What did you end up getting? When I first got my A8 I had the same issue, but it went away with a new remote battery. Once in a while it happens, but I get a No Key Identified on the cluster screen (and a key symbol). Do you get that?

I never experienced this. I did experience one day and a half of weirdness. It was like my key battery was dead, the keyless entry wouldn't work at all, unlock or locking, but the push button start would work. Then the next day it was working perfect.??

I had this problem and I figured out I wasn't pushing the start button hard enough. It is a two stage button, and the second stage takes some pressure. The reach makes it a bit awkward too. Once I figured out I had to push it harder I have not hade a problem since.

Yes, this has happened to me on more than a few occasions. The key battery was replaced and it seemed to rectify the situation; but, the issue raised its head again until I realized that my wretched iPhone 4 was interacting with my remote key. Once the pair was separated with some distance, then the problem, for me anyways, was eliminated. Just make sure that the remote key is within close proximity to the front dash.
My beast is a silver 2006 A8L 4.2L, purchased in the spring of 2010 with 39k kilometers (24K miles) on the odometer. Single user, lease return, the vehicle was shipped to Toronto from Halifax for auction. I flew to Toronto and drove it back to the west coast. This is my seventh Audi and by far the sweetest of them all.
