I read with interest many posts before pulling the trigger and buying a 2006 A8L with 47,000 miles here in Atlanta for roughly $28,000. Apparently, this vehicle was owned by a pro athlete before my purchase and he took really nice care of it. It has not one ding or blemish. It is fairly tricked out and a little too bling for me but I can fix that. It has almost every imaginable option available (though some don't work) and it is a real pleasure to drive so far.

Among the options are heated/cooled/massage seats, heated rear seats, alcantra package, rear entertainment system (DVD's in headrests), solar sunroof, power door and truck closers, power rear sunshade, keyless go, laser jammers front and back and hidden radar detector.

It came with DARK tint which I have already removed and 22 inch matching dark blue wheels. I know, I know, they are very bling but attract alot of attention which I am not sure I want.

Questions: The parking sensor screen no longer appears after I put the car in reverse but I hear the beeps. Is this an MMI issue? I have the 4346 version. Do I need to upgrade?

The rear sunshade does not work but I am not really worried about it unless it is a cheap fix.

I would like to get an extended warranty but do I need to? Any particular companies that are favored among folks here? I have the cash to fix things but don't want to drop $2-3K every time it goes in the shop. Anything I should be worried about in particular?

As for the wheels, I have access to the original OEM 19" turbines with new tires on them that I can get mounted with the sensors for $1400. Should I do that, keep them as they are, or strip the paint and have them painted silver? There was a recent post with the 22" wheels that were silver and similar to mine that looked pretty sharp and less blingy. I don't know if there is a real drive, handling difference between the stock 19" and my 22" wheels since I have only driven mine.

Pictures are attached.

Seems to me like you shouldn't have bought the car... You paid a decent amount for the car and you removed a lot of stuff others would keep.

Such as the tint would be a for sure keeper, and the rims even if they aren't your style. This car was more catered to someone who wanted all that stuff. IMO you should have bought a stock car and left this car for someone who could have enjoyed all the extra goodies.

As for the rims they look awesome IMO, but the 22" would kill! kill! the ride quality.

As for your other questions they can be all answered using search or browsing the threads; no need to restate what we all state on a monthly basis. Including all warranty information.

Good luck!

Looks like a nice car, although I am not keen on the amaretto interior, other than that it looks good.

I agree about the wheels, either paint them silver again if you are happy/able to stick with the 22". This depends on the roads where you live and ride/steering compromises made as a result of having a too large wheel choice for everyday use.

I would dearly have loved to have the solar sunroof but I could not find one here in England so I am stuck with the standard. I know the benefit of this from my wife's T'reg which has one.

It's funny, in the external photo the interior looks to be cream - it must be the effect of the camera and colour of the glass.

I believe the rear sun blind is a real pain. getting to it is really involved apparently - I have never removed the rear shelf but I gather lots of other trim has to be removed. The fault is most likely a fairly cheap fix it is just down to whether you want to spend the time taking it all apart....

Sell those 22´s and go for 19´s. 22´s are good for nothing but showroom.

Cheap rear blind repair is available. PM me about that.

Thanks guys. As we speak, I am having the 19" original turbines put back on. I will post the pics as soon as I get her back. I will also go back and search through the threads for the answers to most of my questions. I am sure I will have more. Thanks for your help.
