Default Heat and ventilation questions

My audi 90 seems to have problems warming up in the morning. When I come out to my car I have almost no heat, but as I drive it starts to warm up and get hot. But whenever I slow down, the heat cools off, and the longer I sit the cooler it will get. I replaced the thermostat not that long ago, and I flushed the heater core with CLR over the summer, so it's not clogged.

I'm starting to think it may have to do with the temperature regulating flap seal not sealing all the way. Does anyone know exactly where that flap is? Also my car has manual cable controls, not electric flaps.

It could also be an air bubble in the heater core. Any recommendations on how to get it out?

I'm trying to avoid replacing the core itself because of the labor involved...but I may have to

Just my thought, if its not leaking or clogged then the HC should be fine. There are 2 heater hoses driver side firewall that should be hot at touch. MY 95Q had the thermostat installed wrong and it was not at 12-oclock position and I had no heat when moving. Not all thermostats have a the 12-oclock Dot at the top(Blauparts don't, but they will tell you to make sure the bar is Vertical on the front of the Thermostat.

I guess I should of asked you first: Did you change your thermostat first? That's where I would start to begin with.

Sorry, I see you had replaced it. If your sure its installed correctly. Check the heater hoses for heat and try bleeding the system. Some say use the bleeder screw from the heater pipe on the back of the block. I will be doing it soon once I install everything back in on my 95 90Q

Ok, will try that. Yeah, I changed the thermostat when I did my timing belt and I am 95% positive that it was at the 12 o'clock position. I've tried bleeding it from the screw on the heater hose, but not the one on the back of the block.

Get the engine hot before you try to loosen the bleeder screw on the hard pipe. It likes to strip.
