Audi Symphony II in 99 A6
I know this has been posted so many times before but I cannot find anything pertaining to my install. My car has the analog clock in the cluster which I believe is causing a few issues. I took the Symphony 1 out of my car and put the symphony 2 in. I have noticed that the stereo will turn off after an hour, the lights do not come on with the dash lights and the stereo will not turn off with the car. I was wondering if there was a work around or some re-wiring I can do to fix these issues. I thought I saw the info on how to do this somewhere but cannot recall. I did look at the guide that everyone else is using to do this swap but it does not pertain to my car since I don't have the digital clock. Would replacing the instrument cluster with a newer one solve my problem?

Take some time and search the separate forums and the resource section too,
I do know that the Symphony II has more interfacing with the dash cluster by means of can bus protocol than the Symphony I, Your second question on the cluster swap is a no go for sure because of the other module interface protocols you don't have with your model year.
At this point your almost better installing an aftermarket head as many have done. There is a very useful post on the cluster differences for the C5's and other sites on sound upgrading Audi's.

Here is a good source
NSXJR.com has the most info on radio swaps, they have a pdf on this same project with "not good" results because you have a analog clock in your cluster.

the radio you have requires CAN-BUS to operate properly,
which is why it shuts down every hour and illumination lights do not work.
you have two option
1) buy KUFATEC CANBUS emulator for the Symphony radio, Kufatec is now in USA buy I don't know if they sell canbus emulators for North American market, as Canbus found to be working only with European radio I am not 100% if that will work
2) sell the radio you got, and get symphony I as originally came with your car
