Default Instrument cluster question

Sorry if this is already discusse somewere- search didnt turn up the answer i'm looking for...
I have a 98 A6 2,8Q with no onboard computer. I have a possibilitie to buy a new instrument cluster WITH the computer:
1. is Audi prewired to make the swap possible? For example, 1994 Audi B4 has all the wires ready to make the computer work. Is there such luck with my A6?
2. As I have my original SKC code (4digit) I should at least get the new possible instrument cluster work?
3. Anything else I should know?

Ps. Also S6 cluster awailable to buy but thats a different story?

Pretty sure any C5 cluster is compatible (A6, S6, RS 6, allroad).

1. no it's not full prewired for the radio , i don't know if your cluster display temp outside , if you do , at least you will see temp and mileage
, if you have no temp then you will need to buy the outside temp, wiring, connectors, pins etc, you will need as well wiper stalk too to have ability to switch between different features on the computer board, if you be after radio display then you need to run new wires from cluster to radio display
2. you will need skc from your new cluster as well

3. expensive, but do able

4. makesure the cluster you buy is with analog clock, digital display will have issues, I tried that option, and I need to buy Can-bus adapter to fool the cluster that I have can-bus in my car, I end up selling the cluster and I am waiting for new one..

Ok, outside temp I have and radio is no problem. I'm more interested in fuel consumption information- is that prewired?
Wiper stalk is obvious, of course

Thanks for the info already!
The A6 cluster costs 150USD and S6 250USD, used of course. Bad thing is the fact, that I need the SKC for the "new" cluster also (junkyard parts, you see...)

What about removing/disconnecting my instrument cluster for further inspection and then putting it back in- what will happen? (do i need to recode it or just removing it without turning the ignition on does nothing?)

nothing will happen, as long you put the same cluster back, you don't need to reprogram
