Default hesitation and mushy brakes

I have about 1600 mile on my a6 and notice one or two incidents of hesitation when cold. At least on seems significant. I have had drive by wire accelerators before and this seems like programming more than engine performance. Any one with similiar experience.

The brakes also seem mushy. They do stop well but the pedal is mushy compared to anything else I drive(E350, porsche, and saab). I hate to take the time to go to the dealer if this(brakes) is normal. I am on the hesitation.

Input is appreciated.

Only had two incidents of hesitation since getting it (now have almost 5,000 mi on her) both were during very tight right turns. Seemed like it was more related to driver error at the time, neither were cold start hesitations .

None observed on my A6 with 600Km, but depending what engine temperature they recommend not to drive at high speed or high rev until it reaches operating temperature. Opearting temparture I see it at 90C, I'm still in break in period so really do not high rev engine especially when it is cold. They recommend to drive car right away but until engine is warm (reaches operating temperature) no high speed or rev is recommended. I would check brakes with dealer as you past breakin (around 500km), but watch for hesitation if engine operating temperature is reached I would report it.

I've noticed the same issue on some hard / tight turns. I assumed one of the electronic controls was intervening somehow ... even though I definitely didn't want it to. (It basically was impossible for me to accelerate quickly out of each turn.) I also thought maybe the problem would be avoided by keeping driver select mode in "dynamic" -- or switching the transmission to S-D and/or using the manual mode. Certainly in manual mode it's never happened to me.

So, I'm curious: What "driver error" do you attribute it to? If it's that, I want to avoid it! It's incredibly frustrating to deliberately enter a turn quickly and try to pull out of it even more quickly ... but not have the car respond accordingly.

PS: No other hesitations ever -- when cold, or otherwise. (I'm at approx. 3700 miles.)

I agree. The brakes feel mushy compared to my other vehicles but they do stop on a dime. Pumping the pedal after the mushy feeling feels like it hardens the pedal response briefly. I'll have to have that checked at my 5k service - that along with a coolant/hydraulic oil type smell. All levels (oil, coolant, brake fluid) are normal and no visible leaks so I'm puzzled about the odor after driving and shutting the car off in the garage.

I had just assumed that it was from not keeping the gas applied enough..but thought about it a bit after your post. Not sure I could have given the car more gas during the turns and there was a definite response lag while trying to exit. odd.

In have had my car on the track twice and you will notice braking and some acceleration lag, if that is what you want to call it, do to the stability control kicking in. I did not have it turned off for my laps. As far as the brakes are concerned I have no softness in mine. In fact they perfomr very well with no fading under repeated high speed breaking.

Some reviews complained about the touchy brakes on the C6 A6, I guess Audi went too far the other way with the C7 and made it a bit mushy. Its not a big deal to me, I got use to it in a few days. Like others have said, the stopping power is still there, just that now it is on the lower end of the pedal.
