Is this a good deal?
I'm looking for an AWD car with decent rear legroom (for rear facing car seat). Was primarily interested in Volvo wagons for their combination of size, fuel economy and comfort. But I came across this ad for a 2001 2.7T and the right footed demon on my shoulder immediately became interested. Is this a good deal?

On a related note, how durable are these cars. Could I get to 200K+ with regular maintenance or would the car be likely to suffer a major failure (Transmission, turbo(s), head gasket, etc) before then? For reference I'm coming from a 2002 Jetta Wagon TDI which is closing in on 200K and still running well aside from some VW "quirks". So I have some experience wrenching on the VAG family tree and the need for timely maintenance. Would the NA 3.0 be less troublesome?
Thanks for your input.
The only major trouble spot in future I'd worry about would be the transmission. Look around at posts in this forum (or others) and you'll see lots of people have issues there. And with the added power of the 2.7t, depending on how former owners drove it...

yes, you can get 200K+ with regular maintenance on audi's no question about it

He says the turbos were rebuilt (ie. seals - aka rebuilt turbos) - but were the cats/O2 sensors affected negatively by the faulty turbos? You'll find this out & a lot more from the inspection - start off by telling them you want a VAG scan done to highlight any error/readiness codes, and let them tell you what else they do.....checking car for signs of paint overspray, paint cut lines, use paint meter to check paint thickness, new parts, or anything else indicating any previous collision repair? hydrocarbons in the antifreeze using something like a NAPA block tester(google this) to indicate leaking/blown head gasket? Cylinder compression test/leakdown test all within spec? This is what I check with turbo cars - good luck.

im sorry but some of this is a bit overkill (nothing wrong with being thorough though :P), do you stick a borescope into the spark plugs to check the cylinder walls too
?paint/over-spray is not always a big deal, somebody hit my audi parked in the parking lot and needed to get the rear bumper resprayed, car was fine, but i hate scratched paint, does that mean it was as bad as a collision? hydrocarbons in the antifreeze is easy, pull the dip stick, is it milky? no? then your probably fine. head gaskets don't just "go out" and when they do, its an all or nothing event. same goes for the leakdown test, unless the car is running like junk, or the VAG scan throws up codes, i wouldn't bother. The VAG scan is the most important test, the other test should be done if something in the VAG test points to it, and in all honesty, if it doesnt pass the VAG scan the other tests are pointless, id walk away from the car. that is unless the vag scan comes back with an error for somthing little like the coolant temperature sensor, which is how i knocked 2K off the purchase price of one of my cars
