Radiator replacement/repair options? Early '90 90q20v

Radiator replacement/repair options? Early '90 90q20v
I've been quoted anywhere from $200 to $700 (for the nice 034hd) for a new radiator. The local radiator shop wasn't sure if the only one they could order, for AT would work for my car. I think they estimated it to cost 400, aluminum core and plastic tanks, but I'm not sure.
I'm also curious as to whether or not it would be possible to have the existing radiator repaired or rebuilt. It's all aluminum and it would be a shame to trade it in for something with plastic components. I could rip it out easily enough, and I'm pretty sure the leak is from the bottom tank, due to broken radiator mounts.

Call 3 independent shops in your area and ask for their rec for a radiator shop. If no pattern emerges, call another 3. Write down all the shops they mention. Then bring the radiator in, versus paying them to remove/replace. The fan and shroud come out easier if you loosen the fan from the shroud, and simply push it toward the radiator but keep it in the shroud. That way, the fan won't protrude rearward and cause interference with a bunch of components you'll otherwise have to remove.
