94 model cabriolet
hi new to the forum.i have just brought a second hand cab for my daughters first car.anyway i have found that the thermal fans stay on all the time,just wandering if this is normal and on a seperate note is it possible to check the oil for the ram for the roof,and if so where would it be located.i do tend to get a manual for the car,cheers thanks for any help.

The top motor is in the right rear quarter panel area and accessable from the trunk. Remove the spare, look through one of the open cutouts and you will see the reservoir and a fill line. If the top is not working, fluid is probably not your problem. If it is leaking, there will be oil everywhere, like in the bottom of the trunk, visable when you remove the spare. The oil is the same as for the power steering. The next question, "How do I refill it" will be answered another time. If the fans are really on all the time, even when the car is shut off, then the battery will die. Is that happening? When the air conditioning is turned on, the fans will run all the time. If no A/C and the fans are on all the time, it could be a failed fan switch or a stuck relay. Bottom right corner of the radiator (i.e. passenger side) there is a rubber boot with wires sticking out that covers the fans switch. Disconnect it. If the fans still run, it's obviously not the fan switch. There are other issues, but a couple of assumptions first. 1, fluid level is OK. 2. The coolant system has been properly bled of air. 3. the temp gauge is not reading hot. Also since you just bought it, how about some history on the car and some background on your skills. thank u for your reply.i have brought the car threw a mates brother.we are the 3rd owners of the car.its done 145,000 khm,its a 93 model audi cabriolet 2.6e.thermal fans are on when car is running hot or cold,or the ignition is on only.water level is fine.i will check the other problems u mentioned.the roof does fold up.but what i have found is the t handle has seperated from the linkage that unlocks the 2 top corners on the windscreen. i have been trying to hunt down a workshop manual for it so i get familer with the parts of the car & how to check where things are located etc.have been told have to get manual from aurthorized dealer,and thats if u can still get them,its a rare car not many of them in melb,austhope this helps cheers for now john.
