Default Steep price increase compared to the MK 2

$2500 to $3200 increase per model. Less of an increase than the European market. Except for MY 2016 sales to folks wanting the next new thing, I don't see the increase, or the car itself, helping to change the TTs dismal sales in the US.

Since the engine in the 2011+ base Mk 2 was grossly underspeced, The engine in the base Mk 3 is likely little, if any, improvement over the Mk 2. So you are paying for the state of the art dash and better handling. The TTS gets a 10% HP boost that might justify the increase.

I like that the spare tire is back.

The purchase question for me when the time comes will be to get a new TT versus a late model low mileage corvette for the same price

What's to say the new TTS won't also be under-rated, like every other Audi?

The 2011+ Mk 2 had a significantly improved engine that Audi specs at 211 HP from 4300 to 6000 rpm and 258 ft-lb between 1600 to 4200 rpm but APR test data showed 220 HP and 275 ft-lb over a significant portion of that range http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_up...ivl_trans.html . Given those numbers, I am thinking that the base Mk 3 TT is just finally taking credit for what they already had. I think Audi underplayed the Mk 2 numbers because the real numbers would have made the more expensive, and much higher profit, TTS less attractive in terms of relative performance.

Well just have to wait for some dyno tests of the Mk 3 engines

There are couple of more features now standard I think: standard LED headlights and taillights (instead of Xenon), advanced key, audi drive select (?).
Priced very close to A5 Coupe (which will remain more popular simply because of size and body style).

No change but 5.3 sec to 60 mph seems good enough for most people I'd think.
