More info on the new TT w/2.0 liter engine...
One of the German TTOC regulars, who I believe works for an Audi dealership in Germany, is reporting that Audi will apparently offer the TT with a 2.0 liter engine. I say "apparently" because not only should all information be taken with a grain of salt, but there is a language barrier involved here as well.
Here's the alleged highlights:
Hello,
The TT 2.0 now has an engine with 2 litres capacity.
What is different about the engine, I cannot say in great detail, however I write the following:
Different turbochargers
One large intercooler (instead of 2 small)
Different piston rods, piston, crankshaft oil cooler.
Revised transmission
Output should be around 360 HP.
Torque 400Nm
It gives then to the car a technical description with all details.
The engine is practically suitably which I already in it had. To that extent
the current costs are not the total costs.
All in all thus increase in output/engine, brake assembly, chassis, exhaust, wheel/tire and little Schnickschnack comes one on approx. 60.000.-DM.

doesn't sound like "standard" TT fare...
I'm sure we'll see the 2.0l at some point, but if it comes at 360bhp
with extra "Schnickschnack" and costs ~$25K more than the current car,
it's not gonna be just another TT model, it'll have to be a top-end
special (call it the TTS or whatever you want).

From what I could see it's just Werner's one-off, modded by some tuning company. The price he gave..
... almost equal to the price of a new 225, is just the price of these latest mods. I understand the car was already heavily modded. Werner is a very resourceful man, in many ways (and no sarcasm intended here)!

No, 400 N*m @ 6000 rpm is 337 HP
torque band
180HP TT: 1950-5000 235 N*m, 64-165 HP
225HP TT: 2200-5500 280 N*m, 86-216 HP
380HP RS4: 2500-6000 440 N*m, 155-371 HP
360HP RSTT?: 2500-6000 400 N*m, 140-337 HP
265HP sounds about right for a 1.8L limited to 350 N*m torque for the current transmission
