Transmission goes into safe mode after 10-15 minutes

Transmission goes into safe mode after 10-15 minutes
driving. It would die at a stop and then restart into safe mode. Before I donate my 96 A6 Avant, if anyone knows how to fix this problem, please chip in. VCDS scan shows solenoid short to ground.
