Default lockibg (door and center)

been dealing with this for a while now. my car has an issue locking and unlocking. it used to all work, make the beep and everything when i turned the key in the tumbler (dont have a fob).

at some point in time it all hust stopped working. both doors wouldnt engage the lock or unlock nor the beep to set the alarm. the drivers side spins one way and wont turn the other way. the passanger was just stuck. the center locking would not work either.

now just recently, after driving through a few bumps, the center lock now works but only to lock the car, will not unlock. the passenger side locks and unlocks with the tumbler but wont lock both sides, or set the alarm. and i have to use a bit if pressure to turn the key

ive done some research and found maybe that its a whole complete system and i need to replace the door lock module on the drivers side along with the tumbler. i dont want to replace what doesnt need to be replaced so im looking for sone advice. hopefully something simple but running out of ideas. ibe checked all fuses that im aware of.

2001 audi tt 225

thanks!

I have the same year and model. I just had issues with my door locks but it wasn't the same as you're experiencing. When you turn the key in the door, it doesn't do anything mechanically. It presses a button when you turn it in either direction then the electric system engages or disengages the lock. It sounds like something may be broken inside your door actuators. The box that the actuator and latch are in aren't sealed well and are prone to get dirt and other crud inside. Try taking your door lock apart. https://youtu.be/z5dtdyDDgrw This video shows disassembly and the electrical components that may need to be cleaned.

Sorry for the spam of replies but you can find the modules used from about $80. You can buy it from Audi for $371, I called Jack and Ingram Audi and that's what they quoted me for, $371 for each side. You can find it on Parts Geek for $280 or so.

thank you very much. extremely helpful. i found them on ebay for $80.
do you by chance know if when i replace them, the system for locking and the alarm will work again? does it need to be one complete system in order for it to work? my center locking stopped working again. i was, until just recently able to lock from the center from the passenger side and both sides would lock, and to get in was the passanger side key hole. no alarm thoigh.
