1993 100cs, Need underhood wiring info

I just bought a 1993 100 cs Quattro. The engine was replaced by the previous owner. I already found vacuum lines not properly installed, and I corrected them. I pulled a 2144 code (knock sensor) from the blinking check engine light. I see a blue female plug hanging behind drivers side head. When I look at pics of knock sensors online, the (male) plug of the knock sensor seems to match the female plug hanging there. I think that there may be some mis-wiring of the sensors. Any info on how it should be set up would be appreciated.

Look at page 36, engine performance circuits...the color codes on the wires will indicate the knock sensor. As I recall, knock sensor 1 is on the passenger side and knock sensor 2 is on the drivers side..others may know for sure. This is for a 1997..but should be about the same on your model

Thanks for the info. I was having difficulties discerning which wire I was looking at/for. Turns out that there is no wires coming from the driver's side knock sensor. They must have been yanked off and ignored.

Is it possible to change the knock sensor without taking off the intake manifold?

Sorry..never had to try that.if you can get a torque wrench on it..then yes..if not ..then no

The knock sensor bolt must be tightened to an exact number to work correctly

I fished the old sensor out and the new one into place with a wire coat hanger. I used a vice grip to clamp the ball-end allen key to the torque wrench. A little tape on the ball end held the bolt in-place while I got everything aligned and the threads started. Worked great!
