Is it just gremlins?
Hey, so I'm mid shift at work and I hear my car alarm go off. I look out the window and all the windows are open and the alarms flashing and beeping. I went out and started the car and it's fine no issues. Battery is fine and it started straight away. Anyone ever experienced this or know why it would do this. Many thanks in advance

something triggered all windows to lower and the air movement triggered the interior alarm. hunch that your driver side door microswitch or wiring may be the problem. In the lock mechanism there is a switch that senses when door is open or closed that can cause all sorts of issues when it fails...it is a gremlin. Also check wiring in door jamb for crumbling insulation causing shorts. Have you coded your key to open all windows when you hold the door open button down? I recoded mine and every once in awhile, the doors will lock by themselves after I have used the remote to unlock and open the windows. I would run a VCDS scan.

This has happened to me in the past. It turned out that I accidentally pressed and held the unlock button on my remote key, lowering all the windows (previously coded). After a delay, the doors locked (windows still down) and set the alarm. At that point, all it took was a gust of wind and the alarm triggered due to the interior sensor.
