ABS and ESC lights intermitant

ABS and ESC lights intermitant
all of a sudden the ABS and ECS lights come on, Now sometimes when I start the car they are on but not all the time, Sometimes I can drive the car for awhile and they stay off like normal. So about half the time they come on when I start the car. just wondering what's going on , No codes with a VAG.. could it be a wheel sensor? how do I check those with the vag com?? I Just did a timing belt change etc. this started after I did the timing belt. Not sure if it's related. I don't think I touched any of the connector to the ABS unit. this car is getting old and it's one thing after another. But I'd like to see what it is. car still drives fine, but it's winter up here and I'd like to have the ABS and ESC working in the snow... if any one has seen this before , I'd appreciate alittle help.

The full version of VCDS will allow you to view intermittent faults with your ABS control unit, as well as real time monitoring of the inputs to that unit (including wheel sensors).

Often an internal circuit in the ABS unit fails, and requires a new board. The errors range from an intermittent short to plus, to a speed sensor failure. I've had two go on me for my 4.2 in 12 years of ownership. Had BBA Reman in Taunton, MA repair one, and after many year, it failed again and BBA replaced it under warranty.
