Key fobs not working and won't reprogramme

Key fobs not working and won't reprogramme
Hi
I've got an 02 a6 avant that 1 of the fobs physically broke so i ordered a replacement of ebay,
I've previously linked a new fob to the car as i only had 1 working one when i purchased it 2 years ago,
New fob arrived so went to start tho new fob pairing process, turned car ignition to dash lights on, get out of car and with new key manulally lock door and press unlock button and nothing happened, no lights flash or anything,
Went to start again but my existing working fob no longer worked on the car, managed to re-pair it with the car by putting new key in ignition and going through pairing procedure.
Went to try again with pairing the new key and same issue,
Now neither key fob is working on the car and can't pair either the new or the existing fob to the car,
no matter which key i put in ignition and turn to dash lights on stage, when i put the other key in the door and lock it, nothing happens when i press the unlock button, no lights flash etc and key doesnt pair,
So now i'm stuck with no working fob for the car, any ideas? gone through the process the manual states to re sync and nothing as well?

You are allowed up to 8 keys according to that site.
