Default P1392 code
My daughter drove her 2000 Audi A6 without a gas cap for over a week and now it will start but runs rough and will not idle. It throws P1392 code. Does anyone have information as if this gas cap could cause the cam position sensor to go out? I do know it is not good to run cars these days without a gas cap due to the pressure it needs in the tank. I would appreciate any help.

Don't blame your daughter for the code. Yes, blame her for not having the gas cap on, but the cam sensor is not related to the gas cap in any way.

Well this is what I am trying to find out. Will that can sensor make the vehicle not idle? I can start it but it will only run giving it gas and it runs rough.

Well, it certainly will not help. Any other codes?

yes it also gives a P1338 code. Both at the same time.

Well, fix the problems you know about (cam sensor codes) and see it you still have the idle problem. Chances are that the cams in the wrong position would cause a bad idle.

Still not a gas cap problem (which would throw its own code.)

You might be less frustrated if you were to post in the proper forum.

This forum is for A6 C5 cars, build between 1998 and 2004. Our problems are different from yours.
