Audi A6 2008 Highly Optioned, well maintained, low miles
This has been well taken care of mechanically and electrically.
I have made several upgrades to this car over the years to improve options and reliability. There are not many Audi Mechanics that are willing or able to do these retrofits/improvements:
Retrofitted Audi Park System – Factory sensors and module installed and coded to the car.
Retrofitted Audi Reversing Camera. Factory camera system that is a rare option in these cars.
Retrofitted factory navigation system and GPS
Front facing camera that records when the car is turned on.
Audi Music interface can allow wireless Bluetooth music or USB stick or attach iPod
Special Coding Modifications:
Seat Belt Reminder turned off – this is rather annoying when it sounds, I can turn it back on again as needed
Adaptive Brake Lights. When braking suddenly, the rear brake lights will flash catching the attention of drivers behind you. This is a great feature that is very common in Europe but not here in the US. I can also disable this if requested
Enable hidden battery monitor in head unit. This is a monitoring system that checks the state of your battery. It is off by default.
Additional car features from the factory:
Heated steering
Heated front and rear seats
Navigation (retrofitted)
APS – Audi Park System (retrofitted)
Audi Media system (USB or Bluetooth enabled)
Reliability Enhancements:
Rear tail lights are a common issue on the Audi A6 having grounding issues and light out warnings. I have permanently fixed this issue by soldering the ground within the tail lights. The lights should never fail again, unless a bulb goes out.
Timing chain tensioners are a common issue on this model. I have upgraded the tensioners to a newer tensioner design so this is no longer an issue
The fan blower was giving intermittent issues. Also a common problem for these cars. I completely disassembled the fan and used special oil for lubrication to prevent future failure
Window glass support – There is a plastic insert that is a common failure on Audis (not just Audi A6 but across many Audi models). The part is a $15 part and can easily break. I have added epoxy reinforcement to strengthen the part and lubricated the window guides to reduce friction. While only a $15 part, it requires major disassembly of the door to get to the part. It should not fail again.
Maintenance:
Oil is replaced religiously at 5000 miles with Mobil 1 0W40 Full synthetic oil
Oil filter (use Mann OEM oil filters) is replaced at the same time
Spark Plugs changed at 68,000 Miles
The transmission fluid and filter were changed at 69,000 miles. Audi claim this is lifetime fluid but I changed it anyway using ZF Lifeguard fluid (OEM). I can guarantee 90% of the cars out there will not have had the fluid changed.
Air filter changed at 69,000 miles
Last Brake fluid flush 1.5 years ago
Last Coolant flush 2 years ago
Brand New AGM battery installed (4 year warranty)
If you search my nickname turbo97se on Google and Audi Forums, you will see some of the work I have done and some of the comments that the inside of this engine is one of the cleanest that people have seen. You will also see some of the improvements I have done to the car for reliability mentioned above.
Yes the car is priced slightly higher than others out there. But the costs you'll save by not having to replace tail lights, fan motors, transmission, engine etc ... will make this worth it.
Cosmetically, the car admittedly is not perfect There are some door and fender dings.

Here are some links to indicate some of the history of the car itself on some forums:
Please read .. (post #142, post #152, #154(response of another member seeing my engine), post #159 ... there are others also).
This will show you how detailed I am with cars(in this case the timing chain tensioners):

You can my solution for tail lights compared to there people's solutions. Mine will never break .. others will eventually break again.
