Steering rack removal - DIY solution worked for me well

.. to remove steering rack you need to drop back part of subframe, undo bolts holding st rack and slide sideway … sliding sideway part is most annoying because there is no room for st rack pinion shaft … it gets trapped.
Solution worked for me – I cut technological window just enough to pass subframe beam. Wet completely towel, cover steering rack, use angle grinder to cut aluminium skirt … 5 min job … and no stress which is observed on some video youtube.
You need to cut out only skirt. Doing that you are not compromising structural integrity of subframe beam itself.
Friendly reminder: 2 bolts of subframe and 2 bolts of steering rack must be new ones because they are “torque-to-yield” type. 120N/m click torque + final turn 180 degrees.
Total job time of removal (incl. skirt cut) is 1 hour.
