2012 Q7 Premium Plus Burning 2 Quarts of Oil
2012 Audi Q7 is burning 2 quarts of oil every 350 miles (well maintained, only 89k miles). Had the car into the dealer as well as an independent Audi shop. The independent shop replaced the PCV valve, and checked for any leaks, but did not make any difference in the burn rate.
At this point, I've been told it is likely to be a piston ring issue.
My question is has anyone had any success in getting Audi corporate to cover this repair? My understanding is this was a issue with Q5s and that Audi had some sort of program to address in the past? Is this true?
Also, as not a car expert, if I keep driving the car and replacing the oil every 350 miles, if I don't fix, how long will the car run (does this damage the catalytic converter)? Will I be able to pass a Smog check?
Thanks for your help and guidance,
This member paid $18K and the rebuilt engine still wants oil after 600 miles (instead of 200 miles before the fix). That is no fix at all!
Once the 3.0T oil consumption starts, the engine is junk. I would not be spending $12-18K trying to fix it, because it most likely will not work if you read:

The 2012 Q7 passed SMOG check; if I don't fix the engine, how damaging is the 2 quart oil burn per 350 miles to the catalytic converter?
