Default Second Row seat wont fold flat, possible to source individual parts to fix?

Good Afternoon all, been lurking for a bit but we finally nailed down a Q7 of our own, a 2012 TDI Prestige S Line with the 21s/fender flares etc. No stranger to German vehicles, turned a wrench and still do on BMWs for the past 20 years, and owned several.

It had a few minor issues all of which Ive resolved except for the left side second row seat which wont fold flat. I did some digging on here and found someone who posted the cause and the fix, so I went and attempted to tackle it myself. No sweat, easy fix right? Well in my case, after I popped the cover off, I needed to remove the right seat cover to have a reference point (that seat works fine). Turns out the circular black plastic piece that resides in the frame where the cable is routed around on its journey up and over the top pulley to the other end of the latch, well that piece is cracked in half and just spins about, which is what caused all the slack in the cable and has rendered it useless. I threaded the adjustment all the way down in an attempt to get the handle to work, which it has a slight amount of tension on it now, but I need a smidge more to get the cable to do its job of pulling the latch and folding the seat. I looked on AudiUSAs parts diagrams and it seems I cant order that piece unless I order the whole seat frame at a whopping $1100.

Thats out of the question, is there any other way to source that part? if not Im going to figure out a way to jerry-rig that cable and take the slack out of it so it'll work the few times a year we fold the seat down.

Got any 'parts recycler' aka Junk Yards nearby? I'm thinking if you got black leather interior, as most of us do, then you're most certainly in luck, lol. Just get the whole seat assembly for that side from a recycler yard.

That we don't...most of them the yard will not allow you to pull your own parts. I did manage to come up with a trick to fix it, I threaded the adjustment in as far as it would go, then drilled another hole farther down on the lever to take out the slack. Works like a charm now and doesn't rub on anything. We only fold that seat down maybe 2-3 times a year so I don't anticipate it being an issue from now on.

Nice! Great solution. And that's how we roll...we take it apart and figure it out.

If you love the car, you find a way over, under, around, or through the problem.
