Default PN 4L0973716: part UNAVAIL for Trans Leak

2007 3.6 Q7 trans leak, leaking thru the trans electrical connector or Audi's term "Housing". Looking for replacement part 4L0 973 716. There is qty in the US in New Jersey and they are holding it for a customer. I have tried multiple Audi Parts Dealers (Seattle showed limited stock), called them and no luck. Guesstimate ETA is 1-3 months from Germany... Tried the aftermarket places and could not find stock.

Anyone have any suggestions?? The connector leak does not appear to be an Audi only issue, read some forums where LS1 engine, and all diff makes and models have this problem. One suggested new O-rings but I dont think that will do the trick.
'Thanks

Who makes the trans? Is it a ZF unit?
I'd skip Audi and go right to the manufacturer.

Not sure your search parameters, but lots of vendors out there are selling the same OE part, for less...you don't have to buy from an Audi dealer. First couple search results had stock on it, and the ones that didn't showed as 'no stock', so I just stopped looking after first page of results had two showing in-stock now, and discounted pricing, etc.

It does appear to be out of stock on Rock Auto too. The supply chain problem is pretty bad right now.

Check thectsc.com. The website is showing it does, grab it before it is gone!
https://www.thectsc.com/products/6-s...eeve-3-10.html

This square seal and four tube seals (looks like out of stock) are also commonly replaced items, but it does involve dropping the valve body.
https://www.thectsc.com/products/mec...p21-44-45.html

I would not be using cheap clones from flea bay on these, unless you do not mind trying:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/303601667766

[EDIT:] In another section CTSC does show a kit of all the seals for $57.85:
https://www.thectsc.com/products/sea...21-243-43.html

And you will need ATF, a filter and a pan gasket:

THANK YOU ALL for the responses, I may have a lead on the connector, ordered the sleeve directly through local dealer. The connector itself is out of stock, I called multiple dealers (VW and Audi--whichever ones showed "Limited Stock") across US but they all said the same thing, backorder with Germany. Re fleabay parts, I do not buy them especially when considering the amount of labor. I have however found parts like OEM tail light that are manufactured by other companies and rebranded thru ebay--huge savings from dealer for items like that, just takes quite a bit of time to cross reference etc). Steelcoil, I will order the seals from CTSC like u suggested (never heard of company before--thank your for links), I want to verify which set I need as they list 2 different ones (I emailed them I believe the owner may be Klaus Malenke, too bad there is no phone number). His shipping is quite high and states No Returns so I want to verify which set I need (if you know thats the set appreciate your advice). I have not heard back from VW Parts Warehouse yet. Will also order the filters etc listed. Also had some coolant leak and considering having all the tstat housings (plastic) o-rings tsat etc replaced. Seems like a common problem and vehicle is 13 years old. Have a trusted and valued independent mechanic that I am having perform the work. Im the original owner of the Q7, less than 46k miles. I do not like throwing parts and money away but certain things become catastrophic when left (like trans and engine obviously). Rock Auto has been valuable resource, purchased brake sensors from them for around $5 or $6 awhile back, they were PAGID which dealer charges around $30 each, thats a huge difference for the same parts. THANKS!!!!

^ yes I buy a lot of parts from Rock Auto. Their prices are great. There are some parts you can only get from the dealers because these Audi's production is so low. For most regular maintenance items OEM parts are available on Rock Auto or RM European (such as ZF filters and gaskets, Lemforder or TRW control arms, etc).

To verify you can take a look at the Main Parts List sticker on the transmission. I have the ZF 6HP19X, but some Q7s do come with Aisin 09D. Just make sure.

The seals I have on the transmission right now came from thectsc. I do not think they have the special Q7 ZF filter with the pickup tube, but the Rein one worked great.

Found some information from Manualzz.com, not familiar with this website but appears to be what I was looking for:

https://manualzz.com/doc/12345975/th...t---09d--eng.-

When equipped with the 3.6L V6 FSI engine, the Audi Q7
will use the 0AT 6-Speed Automatic Transmission.

This makes sense since the part for the housing cover which is called "Sleeve" is 0AT323116

FCP Euro shows the 0AT as made by ZF
and the 09D as made by Aisin

There should also be stampings on the trans showing "1071" which I believe correlates to the ZF transmission

Idk if you have a scanner tool, but mine (hex-v2) identifies the transmission model. I too have an 07 3.6L and it has the 0AT 6 spd trans.

I was searching for the part. There are no pictures of that connector 4L0973716 in the audiusaparts.com or vwpartswarehouse.com. However, if you are looking for what looks like the electrical connector (with wires and pins inside), then make sure that is actually the part responsible for the leaks.

The common leak on the ZF would be the case sleeve as listed on the thectsc.com site. The 2 external o-rings and one square seal on that round, hollow sleeve often fail and the ATF leaks out from there. I have never heard of the internal electrical connector causing that problem. At least double check.

Looks like the internal electrical connector with the square seal is more for preventing dust and water from getting into the connector. Therefore if the part is indeed an "electrical plug", then that might not solve your ATF leak problem.

Also, a new sleeve with the new o-rings will be a tight fit, I used some vaseline on install and firmly seated the sleeve to be able to push back the lock on the pan side.
