USA: How do I know what type of headlight I have?
I just got a 2005 a6 quattro and the headlights on it were really dirty and I wanted to replace them with new ones. But when I looked online most of them said that they only work on the halogen models. I didn't want to buy a headlight I couldn't use.
(And idk if it matters but I have the 4.2l if that changes anything)

The 4 2L car in the USA will NOT have halogen headlights.
The number of C6 cars in the USA with halogen headlights is a tiny percentage of the population.
Aid, if your headlights are still mostly functional, find a detailer that will polish and re-coat the headlights for you.
Replacement is going to get $$$$.

For best results you'll need to "polish" them, as in use more and more fine sandpaper to polish them clear.
Usually start with a 800, then 1000, then 1500 then after that I start using a polishing compound. Then finish with the finest polish you can buy. (tons of vids on this on YouTube.)
