Default SQ5 vs Q5 3.0t Shift Burble

Hey all.
I seem to have noticed something not yet brought up in the Q5 vs SQ5 discussion threads. Maybe I'm crazy, but it seems like the Q5 produces a loud shift burble with modified exhaust whereas the SQ5 does it much quieter if at all. In pretty much every video I've seen, the Q5 3.0t always has this loud "fart". What could be happening here? They use the same transmissions correct?

You are overthinking it. The first video is a SQ5 not a Q5 as the title says.

They aren't "exactly" the same and not all aftermarket exhausts sound the same. That being said it's a great sounding engine regardless of if it is in a Q5, SQ5, Q7, S6, S4, etc

Buy an exhaust and enjoy it. You didn't prove anything with your post sorry.

The first video features a Q5 3.0T with SQ5 wheels fitted. The owner confirms this is the case in another video.

You are right though, this is kind've impossible to prove since they all have different setups. I guess the better question is, do any SQ5 owners have the shift burble as heard in the first video?

I'm looking to purchase a SQ5 and would like to know how to achieve it is all

hmm had me fooled with the quad exhaust and the wheels.

achieve what? the SQ5 has a very healthy aftermarket. You can go nuts. Buy one and find out.

Can confirm - You absolutely do get upshift pops/burbles when laying into the throttle a bone stock B8 SQ5 3.0T. It was a big part of what sold me on the SQ5. You do need to really be on the throttle though, I would say at least 30% depending on your speed/gear. Maybe more, maybe less. Sometimes it depends on how quickly you depress the pedal, so if you're driving like a grandma and slowly roll into the throttle the shifts can be butter smooth and silent. Sometimes you'll goose it just right and have a really satisfying pop when merging on to the highway for example, or passing a slower moving vehicle with moderate acceleration.

There is however an exception to that general rule (which I believe happened in the SQ5 video you posted) is if you're using the AMAX "launch control" feature for maximum acceleration. If you use AMAX the ECU adjusts for maximum shift speed which doesn't include any pops/bangs and is faster 0-60 (and beyond). Since you have to intentionally activate it (drive select in dynamic, ESP disabled, foot hard on the brake, then foot hard on the gas, then release the brake) it won't detract from your regular day to day auditory needs.

Baffled downpipes vs non-baffled will make a difference. Depends what type of exhaust note you want. I installed JHM catted and baffled downpipes with stock SQ5 cat back.
