I need to replace the tires on my daughters Q5 - is anyone running Conti DWS all seasons? I'm about to get them for the wife's S4 and wondered why not for the Q5......any reason not to? or should they be an "SUV" tire category as you'd search for on tirerack? just looking at stock size 235/55/19 - any recommendation to upsize to say a 255/50? I'm up in CT so stock would be slightly better in snow.....and cheaper
As another data point, I fit the Michelin Defender2 to our 2015 Q5 a couple months. The tire is all season rated and offers a high mileage lifespan. They say this tired is geared towards a CUV, not so much a car.
Tire is very good so far, and they all balanced up with almost no weights.
FWIW, I downsized from 19" to 18" wheels on my 2014 Q5 TDI. Mounted Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail XL 235/60R-18 tires. Love the ride. Has taken all the shock of rough roads out of my ride.
Of course I am NOT planning to track my SUV, LOL.

I'm new to the Q5, just bought '16 Q5 3.0T w/69K. Came 21 in wheels w/Pirelli Scorpion snows w/about 30% left. Living in the sticks of Central NY I'm not a fan of big wheels! Two of the 4 C6 Avants I'd had have had 19's and both had more suspension that those w/17 & 18! I've run all of them over 220K. With the increasing cost and hassle swapping wheels twice a year I decided to go 18's year round. Found an excellent set of Q5 18's for $200 and bought a set of the new Nokian WRG5 "Remedy". These are supposedly All Weather and adequate for snow. Keeping the A6 w/Nokian Hakka R3's for backup! Installed Nokian Remedy WRG5 245/55R18's. Certainly a more comfortable ride than the 255/40/21 Pirelli's!
Will report after 1st snow as to performance in the white!

Love the DWS. Good handling, great ride, quiet. I run them on multiple Audis (Q5, Q5, Q7, will be putting them on the A4 avant in the spring) in New England and Colorado, as three season tires. Also have Nokians as dedicated winters.
You need the SUV version (higher load rating). 235/255 won't make much difference unless you're in slush or deeper snow.
