Default Restricted performance when revving past 2500rpm

Hi,

I've recently had an issue with my car dropping into limp mode when revved above 250rpm. It usually only happens when the engine is cold, however today it did it at normal temp. The only code stored when I check the codes is engine oil pressure out of range (see screenshot below) cycling the ignition will clear the limp mode and also clears the code. The oil light does not illuminate when this fault occurs and my oil level is fine. Are there any common failures on the 3.0 Tdi? I'm thinking more along the lines of pressure regulator rather than pressure switch. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Does this happen when the car is moving or are you trying to rev it above 2500 rpms when the car is stationary?

Sorry I should have specified, this is when driving. I haven't tried recreating the fault when stationary.

Here's a link to Ross-Tech same issue: Outcome is the N428 oil pressure regulation valve was bad. I replaced this same valve on my TDI proactively at 120k miles, as it is listed as a 'known issue' of things that go bad on these engines eventually. Just make sure to get the electrical connector fully seated/secured back in place after replacing it.

Legend! Thank you for that. I did assume it would be pressure reg related as it doesn't bring the oil light on like a faulty switch, just wondered if there was a common issue with them as I don't have access to dealer diagnostics anymore without paying and I'm an ex mechanic, so no chance I'm paying for anything unnecessarily 😉
