Default open gas flap when engine running : Have I lost my mind?

I swear to you, that for the 7 years I have owned my 2014 Q7 I could get out of my running car, hitting either the unlock on the door or my key fob, and then open the gas flap. Recently, after a visit to the dealership for a replacement of the oil pressure sensor, I got out of my car, went to unlock the flap, nothing. Went into the car, hit the door unlock, nothing. 6° Fahrenheit day, so assumed it was frozen shut. Gave up, went back to my house. Turn off the car, open pops the gas flap!? Was there a software upgrade that the dealership pushed to do this? Can I undo this with OBD11?

I know the answer, for now, turn off my car, but this will be a 7 year habit to break and I would much rather have it back to working how it had previously.

Anyone else experience this?

Of course you've lost your mind, as leaving the car running while fueling your car on the passenger side is not only an unsafe refueling practice, but also like you are just begging someone to try and carjack it. Note the signage attached to each fuel pump with standard fueling safety protocols. The military practices hot-refueling periodically (with engines running), but that's for preparedness and to learn how to do it safely. Military also uses a grounding cable attached to the vehicle during hot refueling specifically to manage the static electricity generated by the running vehicle so it doesn't cause a fire during refueling. Ever get 'zapped' when you touch a door handle or other part of your car during the Winter? Lots of static electricity between your vehicle and also your own clothing/movement, etc.

You can easily test the fuel door functionality at home, so don't sweat it. The lock actuator was likely just stuck...I sprayed mine down when it got to giving me problems...had none since.

Haha! I'd say that static concerns when refueling vehicles are a non-issue for all practical purposes. I am going to conservatively estimate that 95% of all folks here refuel with engines running during the winter months. I shut my engine off, but I am definitely an oddball, and I have, on occasion, left mine running depending on weather (it doesn't get cold like it once did!).

As for the door, though, I just couldn't say. Apparently the fuel door is supposed to lock with the doors, but I've never noticed that mine does. The only thing that has ever kept my Q's fuel door closed is ice, in which case a crisp smack with the side of my fist has never let me down.
