Default Part number for MMI screen

Could someone provide a model/part number for the MMI screen? Q7 4L 2015 tfsi.
3G+ when refered to MMI - is that just a software/firmware version? Because some AliExpress/ebay listings say 2G MMI screen.

Basically mine has got in white/red stripes, and I have to replace it. I don't want any of those android extended panel blah-blah. Just replace the screen.

No, the 2G display is not what you want, lol. The resolution and display quality is much, much better in your '15 compared to the earlier generations of these display/output screens...just a reflection of the incremental improvements made and the tech at the time of your car's production.

Not sure why you are even asking this question as the internet can locate most anything if you but ask a search engine or go visit eBay:

Thanks dude!
Asking here because found nothing on my manual. 2015 was manufactured as 4l and 4m models. I think latter had a sliding screen which I guess wouldn't fit mine. And I don't know resources to look up a screen by the vin number. Other parts yes, not the screen.
Thanks again.

Well, just so ya know, I did a quick search and followed an eBay item from my search results where the description of part matched your car, which is a 4L Q7 model. Then I went down to the details section of the listing where it gets more technical about where it came from and the exact part #'s.

The 4M chassis is the 2nd Gen Q7 series, and still in current production.

Looked up the prices and got stunned. 800-1000$ for the freaking screen. Used may not be an option as it can easily break soon as mine did.

Can't find any exact matches on AliExpress. I wonder if there are alternative screens that will fit and work. Lower resolution might be acceptable.
But I am not ready to pay 1000$ for a freaking screen.
Hoped AliExpress would propose cheaper alternatives, but all I see are carplays android blah-blah. I just need the screen that will work.

If you want less expensive, then a Carplay / Android unit might be the way to go. They are typically larger than original, but they are still compatible with the MMI functionality, and they come with a replacement bezel in order to relocate the buttons and not require cutting, etc.

I would totally buy a 'gently used' MMI screen off eBay from a parts recycler if mine stopped working, if that's all I wanted was the OE system working properly. Before I did that though, I'd be yanking the radio head out of my dash and verifying the issue isn't simply due to a mangled cable and/or connection point between the two pieces of hardware, etc., which doesn't require a lot of effort...just requires a set of 'radio keys' to pull the radio out

If you dig into this topic a bit, you'll find that MMI screen failures, while they do happen, are not something that happens with any regularity, but the wiring connecting to the screen does has some problems/known issues history to it fatiguing/failing, etc. I've just had a Q7 long enough to know to verify all the low-hanging-fruit (and known failure points) prior to swapping the expensive hardware out.

On my older Q7, I've now installed a couple of Carplay kits in past (since 2019), and I think it is the absolute best upgrade you can do besides buying fresh, excellent HID headlight bulbs and high output fog bulbs (LEDs preferred) to see the roadway better. So, from my own point-of-view, if my MMI screen failed, then I'd be much more inclined to invest in one of the myriad Carplay kits to install a larger screen that still looks 'factory'. I'd be looking at reliability primarily, and trying to buy off a retailer where I could buy an extended warranty or insurance to cover it for multiple years, which hedges my investment in the case that it does fail within a few years time, etc. I haven't done that research, but that's what I'd be doing rather than overpaying for a basic, 6.5" factory display replacement.

I don't mind shopping/spending some money on a really, really good upgrade kit, so long as it holds up, fits well, and increases my enjoyment of my Q7, which having the Carplay functions definitely does increase my enjoyment of my Q7, as well as my safety, since it will read messages received on my phone to me, same for voicemails, and allow me to direct reply to messages by voice, and soooo much more, as well as on the navigation and streaming music it supports. It is definitely a game-changer, and breathes new life into the aging MMI infotainment system of the 4L Q7.
