Q7 Rattling back sunroof
I would probably need to tighten a few screws but I don’t find how to access them.
Anyone had this issue and managed to fix it?
Thanks.
To access the bolts for the moonroof you have to pop it up. From the inside there are 2 black plastic trims that need to be removed and there are 6 Torx screws under there. I just replaced my moonroof last week. During replacement I cleaned all the seals really well. I have not noticed the noise since.
I neglected servicing mine for couple years out of sheer ignorance, and then I bought the correct type of lube and wiped them down and then lubed all the slide rails and seals surfaces. Nary a peep when they are closed now. However, when I open the rear sunroof, besides the air and ambient noises, it'll sometimes rattle annoyingly a bit when I hit a bumpy road stretch. I close it and then it's dead quiet again.

Pls make sure you clean thoroughly all rails and sunroof, and USE THE CORRECT LUBRICANT recommended by AUDI.
I have heard cases where lubrication was not enough to solve the rattling noise, but in my case it solved the issue.
Rattling apparently was coming from the slotted guide rail, only occurred with sunroof completely closed.
Keep lubricating until rattling stops, i had to do it twice and open / close the roof a couple of times until i started to see an improvement when driving the car.
It is now PERFECT!!!!!!!
It was getting on my nerves as this is an extremely quiet car, any small noise is anoying....

As others mentioned, lubrication appears to be the key. in my case, I shoved my borescope facing frontward along the side rails to see what was in there in front of the sunroof. I looked to me like there could be the possibility of some window frame parts rubbing against each other if the frame flexed when going over a bump. So out of desperation, I sprayed some WD-40 specialist lubricant using the straw on those areas, on both sides, as best I could while watching through the boroscope. Thankfully, I managed hit whatever was squeaking, and the problem hasn't been back.
