Default Right Rear Door Control Module

Hello everyone. I've been lucky for awhile with no issues but now I have an issue with my 2012 Q7 and I am stumped. I swapped out a 2012 RF door with a 2007 RF door. I kept the 2007 harness with the door but transferred the 2012 RF door module. When I put it all back together I have a pigtail plug from the harness going to the tweeter leftover with apparently no place to plug into? I get a side assist warning probably because I kept the 2007 door harness. The part that has me stumped is that the RR door no longer has power to the control module. Door lock switch and window switch do not light up and don't work from the RR door or the driver's door switch. Also my alarm does not set now and key fob does not lock or unlock that door. I swapped out the RR control module with the LR module and switches on RR door worked at the door in reverse but still not at driver door switch. Can't remember if they lit up red. So I bought the same part number mod off ebay but it still doesn't work. Does this have anything to do with my front door swap or do I have something else going on coincidentally? I pulled up the codes on VCDS and it tells me there is no communication to the RR module. I can't even do output tests. Does the module need to be programmed to work?

Aside from the likely issue with the control module, it is very possible that the location of various wires within the connectors changed. In addition, the connector for the tweeter may also be needed for mirror/BLIS operation?

So understand you sourced 'a used, early model RF door and kept the original '07 door harness in it. Did it have the same audio system and features/functionality as your '14 does?

Did you reuse your door card from your '14 (with speakers/switches, etc.?

How about the '14 mirror w/side assist indicator, LED marker/turn signals/puddle lights, etc. built into it?

My thought is YES, it absolutely has to do with changing the RF door out and having open circuits and possibly mismatched items in the used door. I don't know what happened to your '14 well enough to understand what problems you could possibly have in the RR passenger door, so perhaps a little bit of detail might help us gain some further perspective.

2012 Audi Q7 TDI. Door is from 2007. Mirror is from 2012. Door card is from 2012. Harness is from 2007. To use the 2012 harness i would have had to remove door lock actuator, door handles, and regulator motor from 2012 door to put on 2007 door. I might be over my head trying all those changes. I understand I may have some issues with side assist, Kessy, etc but would that be the reason why my rear door module is no longer functioning? So currently my RR door does not lock with fob or RR door or driver's door switches. The power window also does not function and the switches in the RR door do not light up. VCDS does not see the RR door control mod. But if I take the control mod from the LR door and put it in the RR door, the locks work and the windows work but the switches work in reverse (so pushing down on switch makes window go up). So I assume I have power going to the control module. I'll do it again tomorrow to see if the switches light up and if the LR door works with the RR door control module. Do these modules need to be programmed or coded to work?

Oh my God. My apologies for wasting everyone's time. I grew a set and changed out the rest of the components from the 2012 door to the 2007 and thus I was able to connect the 2012 harness and amazing...everything works again. I did waste money on a door control module. Live and learn. Thanks to Wes for the repair manual. It showed me how to remove the cable from my 2012 door actuator. And thanks to 10Q7TDI for confirming the mismatched wires theory. Love hearing that beep again when I lock the doors with the fob :-).

LOL! No apology necessary! We've all been there: We try to do the simplest, seemingly-logical option, and it just doesn't work out. It is great that you were able to resolve all concerns just by going that extra mile! It is fantastic that we have these sounding-boards nowadays where we can express our frustrations, challenges, and experiences; it is such a great way to move forward to the next step.

Congrats on getting it done!

During a big storm last year, the wind caught my LF/driver's door (like 60-70 mph wind gusts) and ripped it out of my grasp. Bent the door skin and stretched the door hinge out-of-true, but it didn't simply break off and go flying, which I thought was impressive.

Anyways, if you see a Q7 (usually the driver's door) with a jacked up lower doorskin showing a very sharp vertical crease in it within six inches of the frontal edge of door panel...well, then that's exactly what happened to it. Bought our '15 and the driver's door was already creased like that, and I always wondered how it got that way.

I was able to watch some video on adjusting the doors (they sag, so there's ability to make small adjustment right at where door meets the hinge) and get my door lined up enough for the door seals to function again/keep the road noise out, etc., but eventually I'll need a new door hinge for it and another Orca Black door if I want to fix it right.

Thank goodness Audi makes so many Q7s in black. I never saw that as a benefit until now.
