Is it time for a new Clutch?

I've had my audi A4 avant 1.8t for 83K miles...never replaced the clutch. My friend said that there wasn't any clutch left, and that that could cause my car to stop working until a new one is put in...

Are they expensive?? Should I replace it now??

ahhhh.. you're probably fine

the catch point on our cars is notoriously high.. your friend is just probably not used to it. Also, clutches rarely incounter catasrophic (sp?) failure unless you lanch your car a lot.

replaced one recently... went at 90k and spent $800 total on it

2nd. im at 135k and mines OK, not great but ok.

Alright, well my friend has a 2001 S4, and said mine felt dead. I don't know a lot about cars...but its made me worry, I don't want my car to not start up
