rim issue kinda long thanx for your patience

hi i need help with a problem. my car recently started to shake so i checked the wheels. the passenger front rim wobbles on the hub. i know most peoples first response would be wheel bearing. i have changed several of these in my days. but the rim is wobbling on the hub you can see the lug nuts not moving and like i said the rim wobbles on the hub you can see it and feel it. so i thought the rim was bad so i bought a new one guess what same deal. so logicaly you might think the lug nuts are bad the only problem with that theory is that i have 18 inch rims i use for summer i put that one on and it sits on the hub fine no play. i dont understand what it could be. any help would be greatly appreciated.

which wheels? are they factory audi wheels?

have you tried swapping a wheel from the back and putting it on the front...

yes they are stock for a 96 a4. no i didnt try that but i should of but i bought a new rim so i dont think that it should make a difference.

then the only logical thing... is

that the lip on the hub is fvcked... are your 18's a larger diameter on the inner part. I.E. do you need hubcentric rings? It's possible the rims aren't mounting properly onto that ring... Or else you suck at tightening wheels. You are torquing them in a star pattern right?

thx for the suggestions. i found the problem to be the lug nuts wernt going in far enough no matter how hard i tried to tighten them and i didnt want to break them. the threads towards the back were extremely corroded. i shot them with pv blaster and worked the lug nuts in and out with the wheel off. got tuns of crud out and bingo tires go on fine. i wasnt trying to come across like an ******* i just was confused and couldnt think of a reason why i was having the problem i was having. if i did i apologize. i believe the lugs used for the 18's are to short and i wasnt getting alot of threads with them so the elements corroded behind the lug nuts where they should of been. thus i couldnt draw them in tight enough. thx again for your help.
