215/55R16 on an A4
I really didn't want to go this wide, but going up from 205mm width to 215 increases the number of snow tires available for the car.
Has anyone mounted 215/55R16 on their A4? Sounds like it'd make the overall diameter a smidge over 1cm bigger, which I assume isn't enough to cause concern, but it'd be nice to hear some experience.

Here's a tire calculator to help you out ...
Not to spoil the surprise, but your speedometer will be off by a little less than 2%. Not a huge amount, but more than you'd get with 225/50R16.
Just FYI, the narrower the snow tire, the better.

Thanks, but the calculation's not the problem...
... just wanted to make sure that the extra cm+ in diameter doesn't cause any rubbing problems. I can't imagine it would, but I'd like to hear from anyone that's "been there, done that".

Stock can rub under right conditions...
The 205/55x16 can rub the front top outside of the wheel well if you bottom out the suspension while the wheels are turned. This is not a serious problem -therub itself, nor is it likely to happen often.
Lowering the car increases the chances of bottoming out the suspension travel as does adding a wider, taller - or both - tire.
I have the Audi-Eibach sport springs, in the warm months run 225/40x18 on 18x8/35cm offset rims and am running stock wheels with LM22 winter tires now. I have one place on my daily commute that I can make either rub as described above - going into my driveway. So long as I come in a little slower or straighter it isnt a problem. So I guess my answer to you is, you can rub them, but you can also adjust your driving a little and it shouldnt be a problem.

I am running 215/55/16 right now. You are right about more availability. I got the Pilot Alpins
in this configuration. I had wanted 205/55/16 (in the case of snow, narrower is better), but you can't find them anywhere.
