What size tire is the proper fit for a 17x8 rim on an 2002 A6 225/45 or 235/45? TIA

Based on the tire size calculator I use, it is 235/45...
The circumference difference between the stock 215/55-16 and 235/45-17 is 0.1 inch in circumference. The difference between 215/55-16 and 225/45-17 is 1.0 inch in circumference.
