Default question about wheels and tires...how do u know what size to put on what?...

for example for a 17x7, 17x8, 17x8.5 how do you know what size tire should go on (ie 205, 215, 225, 235, etc..) Any general rule of thumb would be great. thanks.

My A4 page

Default a 225/45/17 is the proper size for our A4's as far as circumferance goes.

a 225 width will fit on wheels 7-8.5" in diameter safely. They're just recommendign stock size

Re: i thought 225 is width of tire, and 45 is "thickness" from rim of wheel to contact surface

it is, 225 is the width, 45 is the height of the sidewall equivalent to the % of the width.
