Anyone else getting some noise off their Falken 512's? (humming in the rear)

I'm starting to hear a hum that's loudest at about 60mph coming from the rear. My Falkens have about 5k miles on them. It's either tire noise or the beginning of a rear-end gear problem.

could be wheel bearings as well.

I thought about that as well, but the noise seems to decrease when I turn and...

doesn't seem to be coming from one side. I'm going to put my track tires on this weekend to see if it's the tires. Any ideas on how to diagnose the diff vs. a wheel bearing?

If its a wheel bearing the sound should change when steering left and right.

139K on my A4 and i've gone though 3 wheel bearings in the past 45K.

Rotate your tires, see if it moves.

Didn't help. Must be diff or wheel bearing -- or my imagination :/
