Swapping wheels
Ok, so I have a compressor an impact wrench and a jack. Should I attempt the winter->summer swap? I've always had the local tire place do it, but I'm a bit curious.
The only think I don't have is the torque wrench. How important is this? Can I just impact wrench them on, and then give 'em a good hand tighten?

You really should get a torque wrench to do it right.

Not quite sure what you mean. If the summer tires are already...
...mounted on wheels, then you're essentially just doing a tire rotation. I highly recommend getting a torque wrench. They're cheap, and can prevent some expensive problems. Over-torquing the lugs can warp your rotors, and unevenly torquing the lugs can cause balance or warping problems.

Rotating from winter to summer, and yes you should get a torque wrench....
And, I would assume that you would rotate the position of your summer tires from where they were when you took them off -- assuming someone took the time to mark their location on the car as they were taking them off.
